Moving forward and being grateful

This is my photo but words from a quote by Leanne at "Cresting the Hill" blog.

Hi everyone, I hope you and your family are well in your part of the world. Here in Western Australia numbers have slowed. Yesterday we had zero new cases. I feel so grateful for this and I feel a lot less anxious than I did a few weeks ago. Our National and State governments have put in some really tough rules and people for the most part have been complying and this has helped keep our numbers down.

I saw this little exercise the other day, and thought I would share with you. Perhaps you would like to make your own list. There is much we can be grateful for.

15 things you are grateful for.
1 - 3 people that have impacted or influenced your life in a positive way and how
2 - 3 positive memories or experiences
3 - 3 favourite songs that lift your spirits and bring you joy
4 - 3 favourite books
5 - 3 things you appreciate about you and who you are as a person

Here is the next edition of my photo a day project. Mostly photos around home due to not being able to get out with my moon boot and social distancing.... looks like I have lacked a bit of inspiration this week .....
Monday - 13 April 2020 - playing with camera blur in my garden

14 April 2020 - Tuesday - finally sorting my son's photos from our Europe trip in 2018 and putting them into a photo book. Thank goodness for all the notes I wrote!
I am happy to report I finished 2 books yesterday and sent them off to be printed. Now while I am on a roll I need to do mine! :)

15 April 2020 - Wednesday - lunch - smashed avocado - avocados and cheese on toast with dukkah sprinkled on top. Not as fancy as a cafe meal but delicious easy lunch.

16 April 2020 - Thursday - morning coffee social distancing outing to the back beach

17 April 2020 - Friday - finally hulled those lilly pillies. Now into the freezer till I have enough to make jam

18 April 2020 - Saturday - since being restricted by my moon boot and social distancing rules the last few weeks I've been collecting shadows and patterns around my home

19 April 2020 - Sunday - I had been working on the photo book all day - so at the end of the day I was lacking inspiration to take a photo - so here is dried lavender - smells delicious!

Going back to my quote at the top - what have you been doing to make this "pause" in your life worthwhile? Perhaps you would like to tell us about it in your comments.
But if you have just been sitting and reading a book, don't beat yourself up about it, it's still worthwhile down time.

And my music clip for this week - Nothing Else Matters by Metallica - Danish Guitar Performance - Soren Madsen - played in a church - beautiful.

Thank you so much for stopping by. I value your comments and look forward to hearing from you. I will try to visit your blogs in return. Have a wonderful week.

  1. Thanks for this. It's so important to look for the blessings in this situation, and there are certainly blessings to be found! Plus when we emerge from our cocoons we will appreciate friends, neighbors, relationships, church, and the freedom to be spontaneous in a whole new way!

  2. Hi Jill - thanks for sharing my quote. I'm actually finding this lockdown time to be a bit of a rollercoaster. Most of the time I'm "up" but occasionally I bottom out - usually from thinking too far ahead. I'm not really accomplishing much with all this spare time, but I do find that I enjoy the peace and quiet and the small things seem so much more meaningful atm.
I just want the zone rules cancelled so I can see my kids, and other than that I'm sure I can keep tootling along (and I'm not in a moon boot!)

  3. Beautiful photos from around your domain. They say our curve in Ohio has flattened, and I've worn a mask even before they suggest it, and was pleased to see more are wearing one when I ventured out to the store. The weather has given a couple nice days over the past couple weeks so that I could mow the grass. Winter made a slight reappearance last week with some snow, but not much. Agree, there are so many thankful things even when not in a pandemic, but think they are more noticeable with the slower pace. Stay well. :)

  4. All your photos are inspiring, Jill. I like the jauntiness of the cup in the lavender. Mmmm, I can just smell the scent. The quote sums up my thoughts precisely. Embrace the downtime. I'm a year or so into retirement so I began 2020 used to being in downtime mode nearly all the time. The SIP mandate inspired me to grow vegetables this year. We shall see. Take care.

    1. I wanted my husband to start a vegie patch, but he hasn't yet. He does the gardens, perhaps that is enough for him for now.

  5. Am happy you are acclimating to your new conditions, and doing plenty to keep yourself busy -you and your country will get through this, maybe with some dents but still standing! Love your shadow captures! Wow, that's a huge endeavor to make these photo books! Your son is lucky to have mother like you:) Listened to the guitar music while typing up my comment - nourishment to the soul - so beautiful Many thanks for sharing with All Seasons, Jill and have a creative and adventurous spirit this week, Jesh

  7. Hello, Jill,

Your photos are always a treat to see. I love the horses. I have been wanting to try avocado toast, it looks yummy. It is great to hear your country is making progress, my country can now take # 1 spot for the most deaths, very sad! Take care, enjoy your day and week ahead.

    1. We have been so sorry to hear the numbers increasing daily in your country. Our Gov made tough decisions and restrictions early, people are complying and it has really helped us fight the battle. Take care Eileen. and stay well.

  8. We are going into a lower level next week, so we have some movement to look forward to on Wednesday. I love your photos and your idea about keeping occupied.

It's delightful to see you over at 'My Corner of the World' this week!

  11. Jill - no worries about missing the deadline for Mosaic Monday! With the extra down time, I have been doing yoga with my husband, and researching our families on Ancestry.com. A little extra cleaning. Some more stitching. Sleeping in. Reaching out to friends. Cooking with my husband. I guess I have done more than I thought! Glad to hear the situation is getting better for Western Australia. The Governor of Montana is starting a phased re-opening April 27. We'll see how it goes!

  12. I wish I could get excited about using this time more productively. The longer it goes, the less I enjoy doing. Each day is a repeat from the one before. That said, I am thankful to be healthy, have the things I need to stay home safely and my loving husband. - Margy

  13. Well I have taken 'found time' to heart: created a garden art mosaic (not a Monet yet, but it will do), I rehabbed a garden art chair, I've planted dozens of seeds for a veggie garden I hope to create, I've read books I've been intending to read. . .this has been a wake up call for me. Don't keep putting off things as we don't know when the world might just keep you from doing all that you had planned. I just told a friend that when I look back on this episode I might just find it one of the best segments I've lived! Take care ~ Jackie

  14. Hello Jill. I found your blog in a rather round about way via other blogs :) and I always like to have a read when I see Aussie bloggers! Your photos are beautiful. My own blog languished for a few years but since CV has changed our situation I thought it was a great time to return. Lots of personal growth happening for me, a remembrance of activities I used to do as well as more time - or maybe just 'slower living' time.....not that I was living the fast life!!
I also feel that when this calms down a little, there will be a marked change in the speed at which people want to live their lives - this seems like a breather. Anyway, enough thoughts from me. I'm pleased to have found your musings and pics xx Evi xx
