Midwest-Goldfields-Wheatbelt trundle-September 2024

Hi everyone, I hope you and yours have been doing well during the time I have been away on my little blogging break. We got back home late last week, and I seem to have a mountain of things to catch up on. You know - life keeps going on whether you are home or not.

We had a fabulous few weeks away exploring some places new to us, and others we haven't been to in a while. Our trip took us up through the midwest enjoying the Western Australian wildflower season, then north to a station stay at Wooleen Station in what they call the Rangelands, then across to the goldfields area, and through the far north eastern wheatbelt. In fact 3,588 kilometres during the three weeks of our trip.

I will come back with more to share over the coming weeks, but for now a little look - there was history, walking tracks, bush camping, birds, exotic wildflowers, gorgeous sunsets, outback toilets (or as my blogging friend says - loos with views), rocky outcrops and breakaways, and carpets of wildflowers.

Budgerigars - commonly known as Budgies. So wonderful to be able to sit under a tree and observe them in the wild. This was the first time I have ever been this close to them in the wild. So special.

From all reports across Western Australia it has been an amazing wildflower season. These are white pom-poms with yellow everlastings in the background.

Let me catch up on life - can we ever really do that? - and I will be back to share more.

Did I mention wild orchids? This is one of the sun orchids.

Thank you so much for stopping by. I value your comments and look forward to hearing from you. I will try to visit your blogs in return. Have a wonderful week.

  5. Beautiful pictures! They have those birds in Arizona and I was able to see one in my friend's neighborhood this past spring when I visited. I also love fields of wildflowers!

  7. Thanks for the nice comment. I'll reply earlier this week...

I am very happy about the contribution to MosaicMonday again, thank you for that. The pictures are just lovely. We had budgies as children - but with blue plumage. And yes, I can well understand the return after the vacation. I know that we first had to readjust until we had really arrived. A sign that the vacation had worked!

    Best wishes from Heidrun

  9. The budgies are so remarkable to see in the wild (I know, not quite so much for you, but it is just amazing to me).....I loved this quick review post and look forward to more about your roadtrip. That's the kind of getaway we love too -- we're lucky both of us to live in countries where we can do a long roadtrip and see so many different kinds of country/people/scenery/wildlife and still be able to drive home eventually! (I would love to do a roadtrip in your country, but I am afraid I'll have to enjoy it virtually through blogging friends!)

  12. Jill - a post is not a post from you unless it has at least one orchid (or one of your fabulous dyed fabrics). I had to laugh (a little) at the budgies. Our son had a budgie during high school and it came out to Montana (via car) with us. Hard to imagine that little fellow living in the wild! I posted for the first time in a while if you have a chance to visit!

  13. Dear Jill, that really sounds like a great vacation - you're already showing us some beautiful photos in the preview. I'm happy for you - and amazed. Apparently there is (at least) one arch in Australia, like the one we saw in Arches National Park on our trip to the USA....
I also had budgies as a child - one of them was called Jackie and looked like the green ones you show - but there were also blue and yellow ones...
All the best and happy October days,
    Traude
