Night time photography and water blur

Creating water blur to show the movement is a photographic technique that I really need to work on - how about you?  Have your perfected the technique? I know I still have a lot to learn.

I wish I had some waterfalls in our area so I could practice. We do however have the beach.

Below is one of my images from a few weeks ago when we went down to the Bunbury "back beach" with the boys after dinner one evening. They played and got sandy and soaking wet running in and out of the water while I took photos.  They had lots of fun and so did I.

Summer fruit sorbet

Have you ever made sorbet? I hadn't until the other day.

I saw the food magazine - "Taste Summertime" -  on the shelves in the newsagent a couple of weeks agao and was attracted to the summery image of sorbet on the cover - yes covers do sell, because I bought the magazine, and made the recipe!

Making the sorbet was a little fiddly as it was made in four parts over 2 days, but I think the result was worth it. The ingredients are super simple, you just need to be a little organized. Easy but fiddly but yummy!
They served theirs in little white dishes with ice-cream sticks - think "summer beach days". I decided to serve mine in cocktail glasses for an elegant dessert.

Summer fruit and salad days

It's summer here in Australia and while the land is baking it is often too hot to bake, so fresh summer fruits and salads served simply with minimal preparation and cooking is the way to go.

Where I live in the south west of Western Australia we have an abundance of fresh summer fruits this time of year - apricots, peaches, plums, nectarines - as well as grapes, cherries, strawberries, mangoes, pomegranates - the list goes on. It is absolutely my favourite time of year for fresh fruit, just waiting to be quickly prepared and served fresh and juicy.

How about fresh fruit with musli for breakfast on the patio? I don't know why I don't have this more often. So delicious. Just chop, layer, serve and enjoy!

These collages I have made with "PicMonkey" on-line photo editor. I have only just heard of it - Have you tried it? It's free on the web and lots of fun.

How about a fresh tossed salad for lunch?  Pomegranate adds a yummy zing.
