I have been a little absent from my blog the through the month of May as we have been away travelling through Spain, Malta and Italy. So firstly, my apologies for not replying to any of your comments or visiting your blogs. I actually wrote my May blogs before we left home, and there was certainly no time "on the road" for blogging! But I really do appreciate the time you took to stop by and comment and I hope over the next week to stop by and visit you too.
Over the next few weeks I hope to share some of our adventures with you.
It is taking me a little time to get back into the swing of life again and blogging, so I decided today to share with you some of my favourite windows, window boxes and balconies from our travels in Spain.
I loved the little back streets and lane ways we wandered down and looking up at the window boxes and balconies and their little glimpse of life and the colour of the potted plants. For many people in urban Europe who live in narrow apartments, their balconies are their gardens
Places to hang washing
Or store your push bikes
And the shadows that are created
There were many varieties of balconies. From roof top varieties, and the ornate, to the very simple or "rustic" versions.
And this one was a place to store a plate collection.
And for many their balconies are a place to display national pride and allegiances.
Thank you so much for stopping by. I hope you have enjoyed this little look at some of the window boxes and balconies of Spain. Have you been to Spain? Perhaps you would like to tell us in your comments about your favourite place.

What a fabulous trip you've had! Even though I know you felt a little rushed I do think sometimes we need to be pushed out of our comfort zones to see much more than we normally might on our own! And your photos absolutely speak for themselves - they are gorgeous. So too are the collages. Well done you for taking on the theme of window boxes and balconies - it's great to see a whole story about one aspect rather than a mish-mash of everything (which I tend to do!). Funny, though I was writing about Spain and Why Visit Spain in my blog post the other day! This is is https://lifestylefifty.com/planning-a-trip-to-spain/ Please delete the link if not appropriate.
ReplyDeleteglad you enjoyed the little look Jo, more to come!
DeleteA wonderful glimpse into one of Spain's iconic features, balconies used in all sorts of ways with style, humour and floral abundance!
ReplyDeleteWe have enjoyed several trips to Spain, it's so close it would be rude not to, I'll never forget visiting the Alhambra in Granada, a wonderful highlight when we stayed in Marbella.
Happy Mosaic Monday.
Unfortunately for us Aussies Europe is so far away. I would love to go back to Spain to explore more, but not sure if I will ever get there.
DeleteWow! all those beautiful balconies. Thanks for sharing Happy Mosaic Monday
ReplyDeletemuch love...
I loved itπππ!!! You make me feel in Spain, having some tapas and drinking some cervezas in the little plazas π
ReplyDeleteThanks Montse. I enjoyed seeing some of your country and wished I could have stayed longer.
DeleteHow amazing! I've never been and probably never will get to travel there so I really appreciate your photos. The window boxes are gorgeous! I would have been taking pics too until I had a sore neck! lol Hugs!
ReplyDeleteWOW! Fantastic shots! The trip was exciting.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful! I was in San Juan, Puerto Rico and you can really tell the Spanish influence in their balconies and doors from your photos.
ReplyDeleteFantastic photos, Jill. I love the balconies and windows of many parts of Europe, including Spain. There are so many beautiful spots there. I enjoyed the Alhambra, in Granada, and also Seville, in Andalucia. I'd love to go back one day, but it's a long way from the west coast of Canada.
ReplyDeleteI'd like to go back too, but it is a long way from Australia too!
DeleteLove your shots of the balconies!
ReplyDeleteAmazing array of beautiful balconies. I have never been to Spain, but you have certainly opened my eyes to its beauty.
ReplyDeleteYour wild flower photos are amazing. One day I will visit WA in Spring, I promise myself.
ReplyDeleteYou must - the wildflowers are absolutely stunning.
DeleteI loved your post. I love Spain. Spent sometime in olive country -- I only buy Spanish olive oil now! Looking forward to seeing more from Spain~
ReplyDeleteWe went to an olive farm in Spain and we were told about olives and olive oil. Yes, I think I will be only buying Spanish olive oil from now on, or Western Australian olive oil from near where I live. :)
DeleteWhat a delightful display of window boxes!
ReplyDeleteHello, looks like a fantastic trip! I love all the balconies and flower boxes. So pretty. Lovely collection of photos. Have a happy day!
ReplyDeleteHi Eileen. Yes a great trip, but tiring. More photos to come. :)
DeleteA lovely series of photos!
ReplyDeleteThanks for linking up at https://image-in-ing.blogspot.com/2018/06/an-unusual-sighting.html
I hope I get to Spain one day. Your balcony photos are so cool. Just makes me want to have a balcony. :-)
ReplyDeleteMe too. I am wondering how I can convince hubby to put up a window box in my kitchen window. :)
DeleteBeautiful window boxes and floral displays are abundant in Europe. I followed most of your travels Jill and it looks like you had a wonderful trip. I will look forward to reading some of your blogs over the next month or so.
ReplyDeletethanks Kathy, and yes more to come. But then you are such a seasoned European traveller I know you have many stories to tell, and I enjoy reading them. Thanks Kathy.
DeleteI have not been to Spain, but I am in love with those balconies, especially the ones with flowers - so romantic. My eye was really drawn to the home (I assume it was one home) that had the balconies connected with the spiral staircases. Stunning!
ReplyDeleteyes, I agree the one with the spiral staircase is stunning. I would love a balcony (not possible on a ground floor only house), or at least a window box!
DeleteSo gorgeous, and I love all the ironwork on the balconies! Not quite the same as being there, but almost!
ReplyDeleteOh those balconies! I look forward to seeing more posts from this trip of yours. #Teamlovinlife
ReplyDeleteLovely images of everyday life. The architecture is just beautiful.
ReplyDeleteI love this post! I am from Puerto Rico and Spain is in many aspects our mother land. You can see it in the architecture, especially in my hometown where the balconies resemble these so much. Thank you for the beautiful images!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for sharing your beautiful pictures. I love balconies. Spain is on my places to see list so enjoyed your post.
