Sometimes I just want to sit and be still

Hi everyone, just a short post from me today. I don't know about you, but sometimes I just want to sit and be still.....

And as the young lady on the check out at the Farmer's Market siad to me today. "Life doesn't have to be measured by our achievements. How true this is. What a gift she gave to me. So if you just want to sit, well just sit.

On a jetty somewhere as the sun dips into the Indian Ocean

or sit at a camp by a river

or out in the bush under the trees

or looking over the paddocks at days end

or breakfast for two by the ocean at some exotic locale

or just sit among the wildflowers

What about you? Where is your favourite sitting place?

  1. Yes, sitting still does not happen nearly enough, and yet wonderful things happen when I do … nature passes by and I actually notice it. I can hear the voice of God breaking through the jumble of my thoughts. I have a deep conversation with someone. OK, Jill, you're on - I will do more of it, starting tomorrow!

  3. I feel the exact same way...this life, even though retired now for many years, just never seems to down long enough to accomplish much in the way of quiet relaxation. We live in such a fast paced life and every morning I awaken with the best intentions and then a family member, a friend, neighbor needs something, or I get a reminder of an appointment, the dogs to the Vet, me for a test, or exam...and all that I long for sometimes is just a little bit of peace and quiet somewhere like you have shown...oh for more of that. Hugs~

  4. I sometime think I'm like Ferdinand. I just like to sit and smell the flowers. I like the quiet to listen to the birds.

  5. We've taken a step in slowing our pace, with the move to Greece. But still I feel like I am cheating on chores when I take an afternoon break to read or nap or write or sometimes, just stare at the view before me. Great post and food for thought!

  6. Especially the jetty speaks to me.
Sweet memories of WA´s Carnarvon´s old Prawn Jetty but also of the last holiday with our late Mum in island RĂ¼gen, Sellin, in Germany.
I love the bush, too, though.
Hmmm, brekkie for 2 at the ocean sounds very tempting, too and who does not love wildflowers :-)

  7. So many beautiful photos; I love the ocean shots. That's my happy place.. listening to the waves and just staring out into in the horizon.

  8. I could easily see myself sitting still in any of those wonderful locations Jill. These photos immediately made me feel relaxed.
